Stephen H. Shore

Stephen H. Shore is the Department Chair and a Professor in Georgia State University’s Department of Risk Management and Insurance. He holds the R. Means Davis Professorship and the Kenneth Black Chair.

Before joining Georgia State, Shore taught at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University, and served as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Office of Economic Policy. His research focuses on income risk, consumer credit, and the design of policies that help people manage uncertainty.

In x-Risk Course, Professor Shore brings that risk-management lens to questions that sit beyond traditional insurance, from pandemics and nuclear close calls to artificial intelligence and humanity’s long-term future.
